How Robotics Clubs Provide Hope and Skills
The ongoing war in Ukraine has severely impacted the lives of children, causing immense displacement and trauma. These children, many of whom are displaced or come from vulnerable backgrounds, face significant psychological and educational challenges.
The Robotics Club initiative by "Your Future, Ukraine" Youth Public Organization aims to address these challenges by providing a safe and supportive environment where children can find relief from the harsh realities of war.
Personal Stories of Impact
Hlib, 6 years old
Hlibis finishing 1st grade at a specialized school for visually impaired children. Despite staying in Kyiv since the beginning of the war, Hlibremains curious and resilient. He loves to sing and often asks metro workers how things operate. One day, while passing by a church building, we learned about the robotics classes held there. I thought, 'This is exactly what we need!' We've been attending these classes every week for almost two months now.
Since then, we've seen positive changes in Hlib. His math math skills have improved, and his motor skills have developed significantly. This progress is crucial for his his development. Hlibsays he loves the classes.
Ilya, 12 years old
Ilya has been attending the robotics classes since October. He is very sensitive to noise and wears noise-cancelling headphones during the sessions to avoid being overwhelmed. Ilya prefers to communicate with people older than him and has a talent for analysis, though he struggles with abstract concepts. He also enjoys drawing.
Ilya loves robotics and eagerly asks his parents every day when he can attend the next class. He gets upset if, for some reason, his mother can't take him. These classes have had a positive impact on Ilya, helping him become more focused.
